The paint was pretty good overall but there was some small scabs starting to appear around the front window and each panel had some sort of ding or mark so it made sense to just paint the whole car.
Apart from the lower screen and scuttle rust there was very little remedial work to do to the car before prepping the surface for fresh paint.
After some finishing work by the body shop the car was collected and the next stage of the stripdown could begin – suspension and underside restoration. Additional tweaks included headlight washer delete, brake ducts & cup mirrors and an RS rear bumper section were painted.
Even though the car had fresh paint there was still a metric tonne of work required to complete the car.
Rear engine lid badly aligned and spoiler needs rebuilding so off that came for some fettling and also easier access during restoration.
